L293D as motor driver

Today, I would like to introduced one chip called as L293D. This is dual DC motor driver connection and used to control for both direction. The connection of this chip to the Arduino is given in the picture below.

PS2 wireless joystick

This is PS2 wireless joystick that I have bought from ebay.com. Today, I want to show how to connect this joystick with the Arduino board. Actually, there have no other electronic components for interfacing between them, just 6 jumper wires and Arduino board.

Connection wires (green led will stop blinking when it connected)

White (datapin) --> pin D2
Grey (commandPin) --> pin D3
Blue (ground) --> Gnd
Purple (power) --> 5V
Green (attentionPin) --> pin D4
Black (clockPin) --> pin D5

However, this module have their own library. Please download from this link

Run an example that given in that library, change the pin number based on the selected pin above, upload and DONE!


When you press one button in joystick and hold it, it will give you the different number continuously. After you release it, the number back to zero (0). You can check it from Serial monitor.

Reminder

This post just to remind me for anything related to the electronic that I need to considered before start any new project.
  1. If use Arduino Pro Mini, Servo motor and LIPO as power source, please use bigger wire to ensure that the current can flow easily. Cannot to use small wire such as AWG30 and connected to the RAW pin at Pro Mini. 
  2. Make sure all the components/parts well function b4 install to the structure.
  3. Sometime for Pro mini, they used different chip which is ATMEGA328P or ATMEGA168. So, please make sure you select the right board in Arduino IDE before you upload the code.
  4. Working current for MG995 is more or equal to 1A.
  5. If the buzzer did not play a sound, just tick, tick, tick. Put some delay between HIGH and LOW in coding.

Smart Door Lock for this version has been completed and well function. After some modification on the circuit and the casing, the final product become smaller than before.

Unlocked Door part 2

After installed to the door. Next, to include the switch and the battery. However, after testing, that size of servo motor can't afford to rotate the knob. So, this prototype has failed. 
Summary: Don't start fabricate anything before you completed the circuit and testing.

This is module that we published under ump publisher. It totally in bahasa malaysia since no arduino book yet in bahasa. Currently, it in printing process before completed published this year 2015. This module is compiling all tutorials that we conducted in the training. So, i can say that it is fully guided module for beginner who has no basic in arduino as well as in electronic.

Minimizing robot car controller

What I have done here is how to shrink your project to the smallest size of project.

However, I need to cover all the circuit into fit casing. This product is a robot car that can be controlled by using android apps. It have ultrasonic sensor to detect any obstacle in the front car and stop the car automatically. The price for this project is about RM80 (controller only). Wire Wrapping Tools AWG30

This is wire wrapping tools for prototyping circuit. I bought this from ebay.com with price USD18.55. It quite expensive for just only one blue long metal stick. However, I really satisfied with its performance when we wrapping the awg wire to the electronic components.

Baby Motion Detector

Alat ini digunakan untuk memberi peringatan kepada ibubapa ketika bayi sedang tido di dalam bilik. Kebanyakan kes, bayi sering jatuh dari katil kerana tidak disedari ibubapa yang berada di luar bilik. 
Kedua-dua alat ini mempunyai fungsi yang berbeza. Satu adalah penghantar dan satu lagi adalah penerima. 
Menggunakan komunikasi melalui frekuensi radio, penghantar akan mengesan pergerakan dan menghantar signal kepada penerima. Penerima pula menerima signal dan seterusnya membunyikan buzzer. Sistem ini adalah seperti alarm keselamatan rumah. 
Pastikan kedua-dua alat dihidupkan untuk berkomunikasi antara satu sama lain.

Improvement of this device is include an actuators and display monitor. An actuators here are LED and buzzer. All the components will be put into customized box which will be printed using 3D printer. All dimensions need to measure before design the box.

Quadcopter (Part 2)


Complete assembled
This quadcopter has fully assembled by using all fit connectors. Only one motor got a problem due to wrong connections and it burn. Need to wait for the next motor arrived.
Next step is need to upload the code using Arduino UNO and make it rotate.

This is a new version of rehabilitation shoes with apps. This apps was develop using MIT apps inventor. However, I have reduce the number of sensors on insole into three FSR only for easier monitoring process.

Need suggestion


In this picture, I have some modules and electronics parts:
  1. Arduino Pro Mini = RM 35
  2. RTC Module = RM 15
  3. Bluetooth Module = RM 25
  4. IR transmitter and receiver = RM 10
  5. Photoresistor = RM 5
  6. LED's and resistor = RM 1.00 (5 led's)
What project that can we manage using those parts? Any idea?

RTC Module Connection

RTC Module need four (4) required connection pin which is VCC, GND, SDA and SCL.
SDA and SCL are pin for communication, this is for I2C connection.
The connection of RTC and Arduino are as follows:
VCC --> 5V
GND --> GND
SDA --> A4 / SDA
SCL --> A5 / SCL
For UNO, SDA and SCL pin are beside the GND pin in digital row.
Maybe you don't know, but it is labeled at the behind of the board.
Alternatively, A4 and A5 analog pin can be as SDA and SCL pin as well.

InfraRed (receiver and transmitter)

  1. Connect all components (ir receiver and ir transmitter) as shown in the figure below

  
  1. Download library for IRremote
  1. Extract and put the folder into Arduino library in your computer
  2. Upload IRrecvDump example
  3. Get the HEX code from your remote by press button directly to the ir receiver
Example:  Sony: A90, 12bits will display in serial monitor
  1. Method to write the code: irsend.sendSony(0xA90, 12); delay(40);
  1. After you complete your transmitting code, upload and DONE!
  1. Bring your device to the TV and start it.

Data logging shield

This is data logging shield. It suitable for developing stand alone data logger device. This also have real time clock module, and SD card module integrated together. Just attached this shield stacked on Arduino UNO or Mega, put the SD card and coin battery CR1220, then upload the code and DONE :)
